Job Summary:

This position is designed to give Jobs in the Park participants their first employment experience in customer service and operations of a busy outdoor water park.  

The position is seasonal, from May-September 2023. The typical schedule is 10-40 hours per week which includes day, evening, weekend, and holiday shifts.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Deck Crew responsibilities:


• Keep concession deck and tables meticulously clean and free of trash, spills and general messes.
• Spot clean each table after customer use.
• Use deck hose on all spills.
• Keep trash receptacles clean and open for trash. Remove bags when full and replace with new trash bags. Aquatic maintenance staff will take to dumpster.
• Rotate condiments every two hours or sooner if needed, and keep napkin holders full.
• Pick-up all trash in and around concession deck area, around skate park, parking lots, entrance, picnic areas and facilities.
• Hose down concession deck area (power wash if needed) each night after concessions close at 7pm if assigned to Wolfe Park Crew.
• Notify front desk staff of any maintenance issues, facility damage or graffiti.
• Assist with park plantings, grounds maintenance and garden weeding when directed.

2. Pool Monitor responsibilities:


• Assist with crowd control on pool deck and locker rooms.
• Pick up trash, check for maintenance problems, and perform custodial work to ensure cleanliness and safety of pool and locker rooms.
• Set up and take down tubes, umbrellas, deck chairs and other related items daily.
• Maintain lost and found articles and items.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be a current Jobs in the Park participant.
• Must be able to work days, evenings, weekends and holidays. 
• Positive attitude and independent work skills.
• Reliable and dedicated.
• Comfortable working outdoors.
• Capable of completing general custodial/janitorial work.
• Initiative to deliver service.
• Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to:

  • Follow directions and get along with fellow co-workers.
  • Communicate instructions to the public in a professional manner.
  • Communicate effectively with people from all cultures and backgrounds. 

Desired Qualifications:

• Demonstrated cultural competence and comfort with supporting the city’s strategic objectives for advancing racial equity. 
• Previous work or volunteer experience, or good reference.
